To Gamify or Not to Gamify Behavioral Health Care

Synchronous Health increases capacity of behavioral health providers in three ways. We increase the amount of time Specialists spend delivering care rather than managing administrative tasks. We allow for shorter intervention times based on what the person being helped needs and wants rather than the traditional hour long session. We also vary the Specialist education requirements and appropriately matching them to the needs of those we serve.

It's been a wild two weeks at Synchronous Health HQ. Last week we were hit by an EF-3. Thankfully none of our staff members lost their homes or were harmed, though some did lose power. Just 3 miles from our offices buildings were leveled, people lost everything, including 25 people across the mid-state who lost their lives.

We can prevent behavioral health conditions. For those we can't prevent, we can at least provide early intervention. We can prevent a behavioral health crisis the same way we can prevent a heart attack; there will continue to be genetic and inherent risks of behavioral health conditions but there is a lot we can do to protect ourselves from them. We help make sure every dawn is a new day.

Delivering empathy in the right measure is hard. Too little empathy makes it hard to connect with the person you’re trying to support. Too much empathy and it slips into sympathy, which is in most cases not helpful.
